It is not just teaching, but also research, development and the transfer of knowledge into experience and to other universities that are important functions of the university. Alongside individually supported research from professors and students, the faculty also participates in internationally, nationally and regionally conducted research.  

The faculty has contact with numerous universities, mostly from Europe, through regular student and staff exchanges.  

Above all, we focus on the development of our distance-learning degrees with other universities. This process has resulted in our on the job training distance-learning undergraduate degree BASA-Online (a joint project of the universities of Fulda, Koblenz, Münster and Potsdam) and our Masters degree in Advanced Professional Studies: Social Work (a joint project of the universities of Fulda, Potsdam, Koblenz, Wiesbaden and the University of Koblenz-Landau).  

Various forms of co-operation also exist between our faculty and social organisations within the region. For example, professors from the faculty work closely in the regional development of town districts, in the planning of youth aid and in the field of psychiatry.  

Developed methods of practice, applied by both the teaching staff and the students, form a key focus of the degree courses and active collaboration from the students within different fields of practice forms a central pillar of our courses of study. On the other hand, multifaceted practice-based knowledge also plays a key role, largely due to the multitude of teaching staff with practical experience within our faculty.  

Constant further development is given a high priority by the faculty. Alongside our co-operation with other universities (see above), a permanent development process underlies the degree courses we offer. Examples of this are the development, implementation and evaluation of new possibilities within the field of E-Learning and the use of multimedia in teaching and studying; the introduction and integration of online information systems and workshops that take place every semester. In these workshops staff reflect upon the running of the faculty, as well as difficulties faced and, taking the students’ interests into consideration, work on finding improvements and solutions.   

Within the faculty of Social Work, quality management and evaluation are closely connected to the concept of continuous development. At the end of each semester the students electronically evaluate every course belonging to the Bachelor degree in Social Work. Regular evaluations of the teaching and faculty organisation also take place within the framework of the diploma (currently being phased out).  

Events that take place on a continuous basis within the faculty are also reflected upon and structured by the faculty administration staff. We believe that this continuously updated information helps to reduce uncertainties and any friction that may occur between the students and the teaching and administration staff.
