Fulda University’s Department of Nursing and Health Sciences is committed to gaining new insights through practice-oriented research in the areas of community health promotion, patient-oriented health care and academic development of the health care professions.
Making this knowledge available for and applicable to the practice setting is therefore a major driving force.
Third-party funding is one way of realising and supporting research projects. Student projects as part of the Bachelor and Master degree programmes, as well as the assignment of research-based and practice-oriented questions or topics for students’ final thesis papers, are other possibilities of generating new insights. Additional ways are the collaboration with academic institutions and practice partners of the Department of Nursing and Health Sciences, the cooperation with other universities on a national and international level, as well as the serial publication of scientific papers.
The Department of Nursing and Health Sciences is an active member of the “HessIP” – Hessisches Institut für Pflegeforschung (=Hessian Institute of Nursing Research), founded in 2001 by three Hessian Universities of Applied Sciences offering Nursing degree programmes, initiating a collaborative research institute. In addition, scholars of the Department of Nursing and Health Sciences are active participants in the “gFFZ” – Gender- und Frauenforschungszentrum (= Centre for Gender- and Women’s Studies) of Hessian Universities.
