Fulda University of Applied Sciences

AStA - Student Government Committee

AStA, the Student Government Committee, is the executive organ of student government. It manages the affairs of the student body autonomously. It is bound by the decisions of Student Parliament and by the student body budget. It is the legal and political advocate of the student body.

AStA members are elected by Student Parliament for a term of one year.

AStA consists of two chairpersons (first and vice chairperson), a treasurer and committee members responsible for special areas of concern, for example social affairs, ecology, women's affairs, gay and lesbian affairs, cultural affairs and University politics. Further areas of concern may also be represented.

All AStA members are students. All students registered at Fulda University of Applied Sciences have the right and are called upon to vote and stand for election in student elections. Participation in University committee work and in AStA, Student Parliament and in departmental student representative committees is important to represent student interests. Student co-determination of the affairs of Fulda University of Applied Sciences depends on the number of students ínvolved in student government and the strength of their commitment.

Apart from its functions in student government, AStA provides various services to students:

  • Listings of available rooms and flats
  • Issuing the International Student Identity Card (ISIC)
  • Sale of the Course Catalogue for each semester
  • Periodicals library
  • Legal advice (in cooperation with the International Office)
  • Loan of party supplies
  • Car-sharing service

AStA has offices in Building H. Opening hours are posted outside the offices and on the AStA bulletin board in the cafeteria.
