DSH Intensive Course II (from level B1) and II (from level B2)
Starting in the summer semester 2013, we offer DSH intensive courses for students at level B1 and level B2:
- DSH intensive course I (prerequisite is level B1): in the winter semester, October to February (300 hours)
- DSH intensive course II (prerequisite is level B2): in the summer semester, March/April to July (250 hours)
Participants can complete one course or both courses, depending on their previous knowledge of German, speed of learning, and DSH level required for their degree programme.

Aims and contents of courses I and II

All future students who have not acquired their university entrance qualification at a German-speaking school are required to take the German Language University Entrance Exam (DSH) or an equivalent test.
The DSH tests your ability to speak and write German well enough to cope in a German-speaking academic environment. The level required by German universities is usually C1 or DSH-2.
Participants of the DSH intensive course study German mainly by working with authentic academic listening and reading material.
On completing the DSH intensive courses, all participants can register for the DSH exam if they have reached level B2.

A DSH taken at Fulda University of Applied Sciences is recognized by other German universities.
Admission requirements for the two courses
Admission requirements for the
DSH intensive course I in the winter semester (starting level B1):
- a direct university entrance qualification, i.e. a school-leaving certificate allowing you to study at a German university
- German skills at level B1. The following certificates will be accepted:
- Zertifikat Deutsch (ZD), Goethe-Zertifikat B1 or
- Zertifikat Deutsch B1, TELC
- TestDaF with TDN 3 in one sub-category
- B1 certificate issued by a German university
- admission test at Fulda University on individual appointment, Zentrum für Interkulturelle Sprachpraxis (Language Centre). Please arrange an individual appointment by telephone or email.
Other certificates issued by other institutions might be accepted in individual cases. Mere attendance certificates without a test result will not be accepted.
DSH intensive course II in the summer semester (starting level B2):
- a direct university entrance qualification, i.e. a school-leaving certificate allowing you to study at a German university
- German skills at level B2. For example:
- Goethe-Zertifikat B2 or
- Zertifikat Deutsch B2, TELC or
- TestDaF with TDN 3 in all categories or
- B2 certificate issued by a German university or an
- admission test at Fulda University on individual appointment, Zentrum für Interkulturelle Sprachpraxis (Language Centre). Please arrange an individual appointment by telephone or email.

Course dates: 10 October 2013 to 6 February 2014
Contact hours: 300 (x 45 min.)
Schedule: 4 days per week, 5 contact hours per day
Times: 09:50 to 14:15 pm
Participants: 20 participants max.

Course fee: € 600 for the entire course.
Examination fee (DSH): € 50

Course application deadline: 20 September 2013 or until the course is booked out
Please apply as soon as possible if you are sure that you would like to and will be able to attend. The course is usually booked out well in advance of the application deadline.
Optional Enrolment, Semester Ticket and Health Insurance
Course participants may enrol (immatrikulieren) for the semester and thus acquire student status. Enrolment is not compulsory.
Enrolled students receive a student i.d. and a "Semesterticket", which serves as a ticket for public transport in a specific area around Fulda (e.g. Fulda-Frankfurt or Fulda-Kassel).
The semester ticket and enrolment cost ca. 275 euros for one semester. If you would like to use this option, please tick the relevant box on the application form. We will then contact you and inform you about the procedure.
Important advice:
Prior to enrolment DSH course participants need to present a health insurance certificate.
An approved health insurance certificate is also necessary for the extension of your visa.
Please contact Lilia Lang ( lilia.lang@bitte-loeschen.sk.hs-fulda.de ) to ask about approved health insurance plans. Health insurance costs ca. 70 euros per month.
Prior to Arrival: Visa and Room
The processing of your visa application may take quite a long while! Please apply for a place in our DSH course as soon as possible. This way you will be able to apply for your visa and travel to Germany in time.
After you have sent us your complete application, it will take about a month before
- we have checked your application (German skills, university entrance qualification),
- we have sent you a confirmation and request to pay the course fee,
- you have transferred the course fee,
- the fee has arrived
and we have been able to send you a definitive admission to the course, with which you can apply for a visa.
Please ask at the embassy or consulate in charge how early you will need to submit your application. Only pay the course fee if you have a realistic chance to obtain your visa to start the course in time. On paying the course fee you reserve a place in our course, so that reimbursement of the entire fee is not possible after the course has started.
