The faculty of Applied Computer Science’s CAE laboratory serves, above all, to teach Computer Science students about CAE, in particular high quality graphics systems. In addition, this laboratory is the CAD centre of the university’s CAD education for all students. The systems have been purchased using funds from the Hessen county council and additional funds in the framework of a special programme from the Hessen council for universities in Hessen.
The CAE Laboratory provides a total of 25 workstations for teaching and research. A short overview of the CAE laboratory’s hardware structure presents the following picture (workstations in CAE laboratory).
The level of knowledge and experience expected by the industry is integrated in the university’s teaching through the various methods and tools in the area of Graphic Programming and Computer Aided Engineering (CAE). This allows our graduates of today, and of the future, to compete on an international level.
The CAE laboratory currently has around 800 registered users and is overstretched. In the CAE laboratory, it is predominantly classes and seminars for the faculty of Applied Computer Science that take place.
On top of this, the realisation of diplomas and project work for the different topics of CAE is given priority.
